The Apopka Chief Newsletter: December 12 Edition

Welcome to The Apopka Chief weekly newsletter!
Sarah Merly here. The Christmas spirit is upon us, and I’m getting more excited every day! I’m especially looking forward to visiting SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration and the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays. Here in Apopka, we have the annual Apopka Christmas Parade, Wreaths Across America, and the Silent Knights concert—all of which happen tomorrow!
We’re also super thankful for all the contributions we’ve received so far for our Light the Way Holiday Drive! If you’d like to join us in supporting Matthew’s Hope and Loaves & Fishes, please click here.
Thank you for reading. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

Apopka Fact of the Week:
“During World War II, Apopkans consented to lease Edwards Field for use as an army base. It was the post for the 351st Coast Artillery Search Light Battalion. The Service Men’s Club in the Wekiwa Building on Central Avenue was a popular social spot for many soldiers where many permanent friendships were formed.”
