The Apopka Chief Newsletter: November 7 Edition

Welcome to the Apopka Chief weekly newsletter!
Good afternoon! In anticipation of Veterans Day this Tuesday, I wanted to share a few ideas for honoring our nation’s heroes, courtesy of The Daily Grace Co. I hope this helps you and your family!
If you see a veteran at a restaurant, in the grocery store, or out and about, take a moment to thank them for their service.
Gather your kids (or your friends) and make cards for veteran residents of a local nursing home. Drop them off and know that your cards likely brought smiles to their faces!
Many restaurants and shops donate part of their proceeds to local causes that support veterans, so eat your meal or go shopping at one of these locations!
Donate to your local homeless shelter. Unfortunately, it is estimated that 13% of those experiencing homelessness are veterans.
Also, if you’re a long-time subscriber to this newsletter, you know that the links below always went to a PDF of the print edition—and a paywall if you were not a subscriber. The Apopka Chief is now FREE, so feel free to click on all the stories and share them with your friends.
Apopka Chief members help make our work possible, so we want to thank them for partnering with us in the cause of independent, local news. If you want to join our team—and get fun perks along the way—you can learn more about our membership program here.
Thank you for reading, and if you have any comments or questions, please reach out to me at [email protected]. We can’t wait to hear your thoughts!

Instead of a historical fact this week, we’d like to share the list of veterans Apopka is honoring with ceremonial banners all month long. We’re so thankful for their service—and if you’re a veteran, we thank you!
